Cool pools

11 April 2012

The Indian city of Borivali, Mumbai may soon be setting a ‘trend’, with planning underway on two 37-storey skyscrapers with swimming pools in place of balconies. Some have called it genius, many others an architectural nightmare (or an accident waiting to happen).

Cool pools

The ISM Parinee Ohm Tower is the collaboration between Hong Kong-based architectural firm James Law Cybertecture and Indian real estate company Wadhwa Group - and they would be the only two of their kind anywhere in the world.

There has been an outpouring of concern about safety, because of the plan to install a series of glass swimming pools within each balcony which extend right to the edge. It has many worried that swimmers could float over the side. If you find yourself swimming in one of the pools, it's probably best not to jump into the pool, make waves or practice backstroke!
