Extend Your Swimming Season
Fortunately, there’s a range of effective, energy-efficient heating solutions designed to extend your swimming season.
Extend Your Swimming Season
Pool heating solutions for autumn and winter
Just because the air temperature might be cooling down, it doesn’t mean you should just stop enjoying your pool. The ideal temperature for leisure swimming is around 25 to 26 degrees Celsius, but this temperature is rarely achieved naturally. For most of the swimming season, the temperature would be around 18 to 20 degrees, with most of the warmth gained during the day then lost overnight.
HEAT PUMP
Heat pumps may not heat up the pool as fast as gas heaters but they are more energy efficient. In fact, the technology used in heat pumps has been utilised in air conditioning and refrigeration for many years. Heat pumps operate somewhat like a refrigerator in reverse – they only require a small amount of electricity and their heat energy source is extracted from the ambient air. Heat pumps are a great economical option for extending your swimming season year round.
SOLAR
Fuelled by the power of the sun, solar heating systems are a low-cost solution to heating your pool water. As solar heaters are reliant on the sun, they are the best way to extend the swimming season while reducing your carbon footprint. Also, solar systems have virtually no operating costs, just the cost of the electricity required to pump the pool water through the solar absorber on the roof.
GAS
Gas heaters are the fastest method of heating your pool, providing a comfortable temperature for swimming on demand. Gas systems are ideal for warming pool and spa water for short periods of time and can easily maintain any desired temperature regardless of the weather. Many now are compatible with smart control systems that allow you to switch them on remotely when you’re on your way home from work.
